24 Weeks

As you can tell from the picture, my belly is growing steadily. The doctor told me today after measuring from the public bone to the top of the uterus that our little guy is content in taking up as much room inside my torso as possible. He has yet to extend himself outward a significant amount so it really just looks like I have a thick waist.

While my Bella Band is still performing miracles on my work pants, I broke down and purchased a pair of maternity jeans from Gap online and a couple of tops. Why don't women wear these things all the time?! They are amazingly comfortable although since I barely have a belly to keep them up they sag a bit after a while. Since I don't think there are any men who read this blog I'll share one other little purchase I had to make and that was a new bra. I thought it was fantastic until the helpful Victoria's Secret clerk finally convinced me to let her take my measurements (after asking her to continually bring me an assortment of sizes and styles) and I discovered I now wear a bra size I NEVER would have imagined. Not only that, but my breasts now sag. For someone who has never had breasts large enough to sag, I have to admit I'm finding this part of the pregnancy bittersweet. From what I hear, it's all downhill from here in that area (so to say.)

We do have a baby shower update. Tage and I will both be home the weekend of January 16-18. My incredibly talented and thoughtful girlfriends have taken charge and you should expect an invitation in the near future. In the meantime save the date. Tage is in Iowa until Sunday visiting family, hunting pheasant, and mostly golfing, but when he gets home we'll finish our registry at Target. Remember, suggestions are always encouraged and appreciated. :)

One last thing to share, I have been able to feel the baby moving for a couple of weeks now but before he left Tage confirmed that he could feel movement when he placed his hand on my belly. It was an awesome experience for both of us and I was thrilled to be able to share something tangible with Tage. There is no doubt this child is Tage's but now we have evidence... the baby responds most actively after I eat any kind of cheese and especially chocolate (just like his dad.) Surprise Tage with a package of mini chocolate donuts and you'll see what I mean.

We'll share more as we go, I can't believe we're already at six months. February will be here before we know it.

P.S. Astro is doing well although he has missed getting to play with Tage this week. Thankfully he gets me up in the morning to take him for a walk so I'm guaranteed exercise 5 day a week whether I like it or not!
