Mason's Room

The details are complete and Mason's room is finally finished! Take a peek...
Continuing with the "circles" theme, I used scrapbook paper to add Mason's name to the wall above the crib next to the mobile. I did the same with the little owl below. (That guy is only temporary until I can get Heather to come over and paint one on the wall for me... hint, hint... ;)
The twig that owl is perched on is actually my first fishing pole! My great grandpa (whom Mason's middle name, JD, is in honor of) made it for me when I was barely able to walk. It consists of that stick with some fishing line and a swivel attached to the end. That stick held a place above my grandpa's doorbell until he passed away in 2005, after which it found a new home above the doorbell in whatever home I lived in. I knew it had to have a special spot in Mason's room. There is the rocker Tage found on craigslist, the impressions we had done when Mase was a month old, Mason's first teddy bear, and a plant (because Tage needs them all over the house.)

The painting above the dresser is one of Tage's favorites and he insisted it needed to go in there for Mason to enjoy. The pair of green dressers were from Tage's mom-- he and his siblings used them (over 30 years ago... :) I didn't even have to paint them, I love the knicks and scuffs. Finally, there is a little reading nook in the corner beneath of of the windows. I sewed the covers for those pillows while Mason napped yesterday. The fabric on the back is brown. I wanted to add that pom pom fringe onto both pillows but A) I didn't buy enough of them and B) those things take forever to work with!
I love how everything turned out. The brown border on the walls took a while (and required a LOT of blue tape) but it is exactly the look I wanted. Each wall is "framed" and the rounded corners give it a little bit of softness. All I need now are some round rugs-- I'm thinking a couple of them in varied colors and sizes, so let me know if you know where to find some.

There is actually also a bookshelf next to the rocking chair, I'm not sure how I missed including a picture. It's full of books and stuffed animals already but the best part is the lava lamp (not even kidding) on top. Fun!

P.S. The only "new" items in the room are Mason's crib, bedding, and curtains. Yay for hand-me-downs and craigslist deals!
